Happy Pickin" Thursday!

"Good Friday" To All
Yesterday was a Long and Interesting DayTrip, as We All Climbed in The Truck, Levi too, and Headed to Lunenburg County. I had an Early Morning Medical Appointment, so as soon as that was over, Our Day of Fun Started. Earlier I had contacted a Dear Friend of Mine that I had gone to HairDressing School with, whose HomeTown has Always been Bridgewater, that Knew Every Nook & Cranny. So as most of You know, that follow My Antics on Face Book and this New Website Blog ~ Becky's Yarnin" ~ I "Really Want" a Laundry Horse! When I ask Some People if they have a "Laundry Horse", as I have enquired at Local Antique Shops and a few others, they sometimes look at you as if you have 3 heads... I can just imagine the image they have in their head as to what I'm looking for! Well for those who don't know, it's Basically an Old Fashioned / Antique Laundry Drying Rack. I 'Really Want" one to have as a New Display Unit in My Yarn Shop for Foggy Rock Fibres "Sock Yarns". As really in My Mind, I have No Idea why Anyone would want to Knit anything besides Socks. Think about this... Most Everyone has a Set of Feet, 2, and Wear Socks. Do the Math as to How Many Sets of Feet / 2, You See a day... A Lot! It almost puts Me "Over The Wharf" thinking about How Many Pairs of Socks a Human could Knit. Well the Truth be Told, A LOT of Fibre Enthusiast's Knit Socks. Hence the Reason I Stock so Many Different Color Ways & Fibre Content. Socks are becoming a Specialty Thingy. That is The Truth... when you see and talk to as Many People as I do about Sock Knitting. There are Many Requirements to Seasoned Socked Knitters, hence the reason I have InStock The Kind of Supplies I do.
So after Many Stops at Shops later, I still do not have a Laundry Horse. I Visited Some Really Nice Ones, that were well organized, and Some were like a Nightmare! I wish you could have been a Mouse in The Corner listening to Me trying to "Wrangle" The 1 Laundry horse I did see. "I Spied with My Little Eye", one that was being already used for a Display Unit. I tried really hard to explain why I needed it so badly and even offered to help him redo his displays... unfortunately he was only an employee, not the owner. Damn. So after much talking, he gave me His Bosses contact info, in which as soon as I was on My way back to the truck, I was calling her. And it was a "Hard No", but said she'd keep me in mind.
I guess when you are searching out a Certain SomeThing, you never know what you may find as your eyes are scanning from ceiling to floor. Kinda like what some of you do when you Visit My Yarn Shop. And apparently the Correct Lingo for Searching in Antique, Consignment and Buy & Sell Shops, is ~ Pickin" ~ And that's exactly what I did, as I couldn't believe My eyes, as I "Picked" out the rivets, or whatever they are called on HandCrafted Woven Baskets. The ones Dear "Cyril Mooers" used! I have a few of His Gorgeous Baskets I have Collected over The Years as We spent time together at Festivals as Vendors. Cyril would go into the forest, and cut, and gather his wood that he carefully hand molded after soaking the slats that he wove his baskets with. Every time he would sell a Basket, he would take a pen and sign his name, and in later years before his passing he would date them as to when they were bought. He told me that he started Dating them as he got older, as he never knew when they were the last ones he would be Hand Crafting & Selling. Well, as soon as I seen the structure and the rivets, I knew they were his. I turned them upside down, with a little flutter to my heartbeat... and there was His Signature on the Bottom! I Guess I Lucked Out On "Happy Pickin' Thursday". Needless to say, they came home with me and will proudly Display More of My Goodies in The Yarn Shop.
NOW.. I Still Gotta go Pickin' for a Laundry Horse!!! Any Offers or Suggestions as to where???
Have a Great Easter Weekend as You "Pick Thru Your Easter Basket" in Search of that Special Treat! I got My 2 Special Easter Baskets on Thursday ~ Thanks Cyril for your Gifts from Your Hands with Love.
